ASPECT Studios – Brisbane Studio Opens!

We are very pleased to announce the opening of our Brisbane Studio. The Studio is lead locally by Deb Robbins and Steve Langton and is being supported closely by our studios across Australia. The studio will enable ASPECT to better service our valued Queensland clients in both day to day project operations as well as developing longer strategic partnerships on major projects. We look forward to building great projects together with our clients in Brisbane and the broader region.

Our Brisbane Studio Directors, Deb Robbins and Steve Langton each have over 20 years’ experience in landscape and urban design in both the public and private sectors. Deb is Studio Director at ASPECT Studios in Brisbane where she leads the practice with fellow Studio Director Steve Langton.

She comes to ASPECT with extensive experience in the field of landscape architecture in both the public and private sectors. With 20 years of experience she has worked across a vast range of projects from the broad city scale to finer detail of award winning urban design interventions, such as the Arbour on Grey II and Cutters Landing at New Farm. She has also worked consistently on major infrastructure projects in Brisbane, Queensland. Beginning with a design study for the North South Bypass Tunnel followed by the Landscape Design and Visual Assessments for the Clem7, Airport Link, Northern Busway, Legacy Way and Cross River Rail Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), along with their respective tender evaluation panels.

Deb is a designer whose creative approach to landscape design is a constant throughout the design process, from the generation of design concepts, through to the evolution of living landscapes.

Steve Langton

Steve is a Studio Director of ASPECT Studios and leads the practice based in Brisbane with fellow Studio Director, Deb Robbins. Steve has over 20 years of landscape architectural experience in both the public and private sector.

He has worked on a range of high profile urban design projects including the Southbank Parklands, several Suburban Centre Improvement Projects, the Goodwill Bridge (QUT connection) and Robina Town Centre.
He worked for five years as a Project Landscape Architect within Brisbane City Council’s Urban Design Team.

Steve has extensive experience in:

  • Landscape and Urban Design;
  • Contract Documentation;
  • Computer Aided Drafting and
  • Contract Administration.

Chris Razzell

Chris established ASPECT Studios in 1993 and is its founder and corporate Director. He has maintained the overall direction and growth of the studios since its formation, guiding the successful development of the studios from Melbourne into Sydney and then Shanghai as well as its core R&D digital arm, pioneering advanced virtually reality design services.

In 2007 he established ASPECT Studios in Shanghai and now spends three quarters of his time based there. He is primarily involved in guiding and delivering large scale city planning and contemporary commercial and residential projects that have a strong sustainable basis. Chris is driven by a commitment to deliver the highest quality design outcomes across the breadth of landscape architecture and urban design. His expertise lies in large scale urban and commercial development, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to these. Chris’ reputation for creativity and innovation is equaled by his rigorous discipline and focus on delivery. These skills are honed in all areas: from team management, the design business, financial, logistical or strategic issues.

Chris’ business philosophy is founded on the principle of promoting collaboration and shared knowledge between a national and international network of expertise, whilst each studio retains its individual personality and specialised skill set. The long term development of the studio has evolved implementing this philosophy along with the commitment to foster continued education among ASPECT Studios professional staff.

Sacha Coles

Sacha Coles is Director of ASPECT Studios, one of Australia’s preeminent landscape architecture and urban design practices with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Shanghai. The award-winning studio specialises in designing places where people want to be.

With a practice comprising over 100 people, the studios are recognised for their rigorous design methodology, consistently innovating to produce high quality sustainable design outcomes across both public and private sectors.

Sacha has led the design and delivery of significant award winning public landscapes on a local and global scale, most notably receiving the International Federation of Landscape Architecture APR – ‘President’s Award’, and on multiple occasions the ‘Australia Award for Urban Design’ and the Australian Institute of Landscape Architect’s ‘Medal’.

Recognised as an expert on the culture of Landscape Architecture, in 2014 he was appointed as Adjunct Professor at the UTS Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building. He is a board member of Object: Australian Centre for Craft and Design and a believer that design thinking can save the world.
